Choose one recurring device, such as a visual echo or a caption that changes meaning across panels. Trace its effect on the reader before connecting it to any broader account of a writer's practice.
Keep collaborators visible
A comics page is also drawing, lettering, colour, and design. Use the credits in the edition under discussion and avoid assigning every visual decision to the writer alone.
Compare evidence and interpretation
A quotation, a reproduced page, and a biographer's analysis serve different purposes. Mark which supports a claim and which offers a reading. This keeps admiration from replacing close attention.
