Comics & Making

Three Studies for Comics Readers and Creators

Use three small exercises to connect reading with making: a silent action, a change of viewpoint, and a page built around one visual rhythm.

Make an action legible

Draw a three-panel action without words. Ask another reader to describe it. Revise the panel that causes uncertainty instead of explaining it afterwards.

Move the viewpoint

Redraw one scene from near and far positions. Compare what each version reveals, conceals, and asks the reader to infer.

Repeat with variation

Use a recurring shape or framing across a short page. Change it once at the decisive moment and evaluate whether the difference earns the emphasis.
