Trace the transition
Mark where a scene, viewpoint, or time changes. Observe whether words, pictures, or the gap between panels do most of the work.
Compare caption and image
Look for information the text adds that the drawing does not show, and for details the image supplies independently. Their relationship can guide the reader's interpretation.
Check the edition
Colour, lettering, and reproduction may differ between presentations. Use the credits and notes in your copy when making claims about a particular visual decision.
